In English, we have been working on summarising things we see and read.
Moving to the next level of difficulty, we started looking for similarities or comparisons between texts and book covers, or between movie posters.
Another level of difficulty, we started looking for differences, or contrasts, between texts and book covers, or between movie posters.
Here’s the example I did on "Suicide Squad"
| Book Cover A | |
Background: A mixture of purples, blues, greens and some pinks and yellows.
| Copy and paste your cover A here:
| Dominant Image: I would say the dominant image is either Joker on the X painted in a blue/purple or the face made with the paint and group of people in the centre
|
Target Audience: The target audience seems like people who are into action/ rebellion movies. Maybe teens or young adults. | Dominant Colours Used: Though there are a lot of colours used I would say the most dominant are green and purple. | Font: The font is bold and big with the title, it has uneven lettering and mixtures of colours. I would say it looks slightly rebellious. |
| Book Cover B | |
Background: The background has greens and purples with paintings in a street art sort of style of characters. | Copy and paste your cover B here:
| Dominant Image: The dominant image is the faces surrounding the writing. |
Target Audience: I think the target audience is people who like DC and action movies, probably teens or adults. | Dominant Colours Used: The dominant colours are green in the background and the black for the main silhouette of the faces. | Font: The font is bold and big with the title, it has uneven lettering and a maroon red sort of colour. I would say it looks slightly rebellious. |
Compare- what is the same?

Firstly… They both have the main characters in it. Secondly… The background is a green and purple mixed in both posters. Next… They both have the title in the same font. Lastly… Above the font, both posters have the main five actors. | Contrast- what is different?

Firstly… The characters in one are just artistic silhouettes and in the other it's the live action image. Secondly… There is a lot less purple in the one on the right. Next… The title is a lot smaller and a different colour in the right poster. Lastly… The right poster has the date the movie will be released and the one on the left doesn't. |

ReplyDeleteLooks good Charli. Your ability to summarise is progressing really well. To improve, remove a lot of the white space from the tables near the top, or leave them out altogether, because all I need from you is the last comparison table with your summary sentences. I've never seen the movie, so am not sure what the censor's rating is for the movie. For what age group would this movie be suitable?
